How much does laser hair removal cost in San Francisco?

At Aesthetic OOGII, single sessions are $110 for chin and lip, $140 for underarms, $200 for bikini, and $225 for legs. Multi-session packages lower the per-session cost — ten sessions for underarms, bikini and legs, and a five-session package for chin and lip. Current pricing is listed above.

How many sessions will I need?

Six to ten sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for most areas, because the treatment only affects follicles in their active growth phase. Visible thinning usually starts after two or three.

Should I shave before my appointment?

Yes — shave the day before. Do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams for four weeks beforehand; the follicle needs to be intact for the treatment to work.

Does laser hair removal work on all hair colors?

It works best on dark, coarse hair, which holds the pigment the treatment targets. Grey, white, and very fine blonde hair respond poorly regardless of the device used.

Does it work on darker skin tones?

Skin tone matters more than most people expect, because the treatment works by targeting pigment. Deeper skin tones need conservative settings and carry a higher risk of temporary darkening or lightening of the skin, and some devices are not appropriate at all. Tell us your skin tone and any history of pigmentation when you book so the settings — or the recommendation — can be adjusted.

Who should not have this treatment?

Skip it if you are pregnant, have a recent tan or self-tanner on the area, or have an active skin infection in the area. Some medications increase light sensitivity — doxycycline, commonly prescribed for acne, is one — so tell us everything you are taking before your first session.

Is it permanent?

It produces permanent reduction rather than total permanent removal. After a full course most people have dramatically less hair, with occasional maintenance sessions to catch regrowth.
